Ogura was awarded the gold award in the leadership in engineering achievement program (LEAP). It is awarded by WTWH Media which publishes Design World, Engineering.com, Fluid Power World, EE World online. The award ceremony was held remotely on October 30th. The new Ogura MIC permanent magnet clutch was awarded gold in the mechanical category. This new clutch produces high torque in a small space, and allows customers to save energy when it is in use because the permanent magnet completes the circuit in the clutch which engages the armature to the rotor. When the clutch is not required to engage, the coil is energized and the opposing magnetic field disrupts the permanent magnetic field to release the armature from the rotor. This is critical in many of new robotic applications running on batteries that try to reduce total electrical consumption. This award marks the third time in the past 4 years where we have submitted designs and Ogura has won an award. We will continue to innovate and be a leader in clutches and brakes.
